'Miami was no fluke for McLaren' says Crofty
Whilst he might not have been Imola himself, David Croft, also known as Crofty, still witnessed Lando Norris' tight battle against Max Vertsappen. Ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix in Monaco, the Sky Sports F1 commentator is confident that Miami was no fluke, and that McLaren are set to be the team to end Red Bull's three years of domination.
In a video shared by Sky Sports News on X, the commentator shared his predictions for McLaren ahead of the Monaco weekend: "What Imola taught us was that Miami was no fluke for McLaren and that they are right back in the ballgame. I think another five laps, Lando Norris would have been there and would have had the chance to overtake Max Verstappen."
'I think we will see a McLaren victory'
Like Imola, Monaco is known for its intensity, and great difficulty to overtake. For the drivers, and their teams, it means Saturday's qualifying is incredibly important. Nevertheless, Crofty is confident that McLaren have the potential to challenge Red Bull, who currently sit at the top of the constructors championship. "If Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri can put the pressure on, maybe force a mistake out of Max Verstappen, wich we don't see very often, or use the place of their car to get pole position, I think we'll see a McLaren victory this weekend," said Crofty.
"What a victory that would be."
