Bottas on his contract: 'I have my clear priority for the future'

When asked whether he had any updated news to report on his contract for 2025, the Finn said: "No news, nothing to really add from last weekend." Last weekend, the Sauber driver was spotted leaving Williams after having a 15-minute chat with Vowles. He added: "I have not signed anywhere at the moment."

"I said it's only 100 per cent when pen hits the paper. So, in this sport, that's how it works. I would like it to be sorted soon. So, which is kind of the same thing for all the teams, I guess because things are really moving. So, hopefully within the next few weeks."

Following the news that Nico Hulkenberg will be joining Sauber in 2025, speculation has grown over whether Bottas would be moving or staying with the team, given Audi, who will be taking over in 2026, have expressed great interest in signing Carlos Sainz. Nevertheless, Bottas doesn't seem too concerned: "I would say we're not just talking to one team. Let's put it that way. So there are other teams we're talking to, but I have my clear priortiy for the future which I am not going to tell you. But, yeah, I have one." 

With Bottas been seen leaving Williams, it seems as if this could be his number one choice. The Sauber driver also previously worked with Vowles when they were both at Mercedes. Despite a few tough messages, the Finn claims his relationship has always been good with Vowles: "I think there was some stuff people get excited about the James Vowles radio comments and stuff, but that's just been amplified by social media."

"My relationship has always been very good, very straightforward and honest with him in terms of the job he's doing at Williams as well." Bottas added: "He certainly knows what the team needs to be on the top. When I saw he became Williams team principal I always knew that. That's the good news for the team because I know the guy, what he can do and so far I think he's been doing a good job."
