Hamilton presents idea to make Monaco GP 'spicy'
Lewis Hamilton, just like the entire top 10, finished in the same position he started from at the Monaco Grand Prix. It was P7 for the Briton, as he couldn't try to overtake Max Verstappen, but also lapped Yuki Tsunoda, who finished a place behind him. The British driver also had a suggestion to make the Grand Prix more interesting in the principality.
"There's not much more to add to what everyone said. I think it was non-eventful," the Briton told GPblog and others in Monaco following the race. "It's not difficult. Frustrating? Pretty easy to be honest. We were driving seconds off the pace so it's like, yes..."
The seven-time world champion was not happy with Mercedes' initial tyre choice for the race, which was a risk either way. In the end, Hamilton's prediction happened: "I just wanted to start on the medium. I felt that something was going to happen at the beginning of the race and normally that would create an opportunity to switch over to the hards and go away to the end. But I think at the end of the day, everyone drove so slow that every tyre made it to the end so it didn't make any difference."
Hamilton also acknowledged the GP, in fact, was 'boring'. "I don't know how it felt watching but I'm sure people will fall asleep. People are saying it's boring. I can only imagine. I mean, ultimately I think our tyres are just, they can do a whole race."
However, the Briton does have an idea for how to make it more interesting. "So, two harder tyre compounds here and we've got to find ways to spice it up. Maybe mandatory three stops or something to spice it up a bit, maybe more."
