Horner happy with Verstappen's communication: 'He's just direct'
- Wouter Bos
Christian Horner looks back on a 'despondent race' in Monaco. Despite this, he is pleased with how Max Verstappen communicates with the team after there are setbacks for the team.
"No, [I am not concerned about Max's future]. I mean, listen to Max's comments over the last 10 years," team principal Horner said. He continues: "He's just very direct. He's very forthright."
After the disappointing qualifying session, Verstappen took the time to say how he felt about the session and the car: "There was a very good debrief yesterday following qualifying where really dug into what exactly is the sensation from the driver. He put a big effort into spending the time with the engineers yesterday evening. And there's no silver bullet. It's just about working hard and understanding it."
Learning moment for Red Bull
For Red Bull, the main thing now is to see where the problems lie and how to solve them: "I think it's a continual process. Of course you're into the law of diminishing returns. And of course your focus changes depending on what your problems are. So I think quite a lot of focus will now take part on. OK, why have we had these ride issues? Why is the car struggling on the kerbs? The VCARB car is running with our suspension from last year. It didn't seem to have the same issues."
