Can Red Bull bounce back in Montreal after Monaco setback?

Red Bull Racing's cars had a tough time at the Monaco Grand Prix. Throughout the weekend, there were complaints from the cockpit that the car was uncontrollable. Now, can the team bounce back to the top spot in Montreal? 

Is Montreal suitable for the Red Bull car?

After Sergio Perez's retirement, Max Verstappen was on his own at the Monaco Grand Prix. Verstappen started and finished in sixth place. According to the Dutchman, this was partly due to the kerbs. For the Montreal Grand Prix, these kerbs do not look any better for the Austrian racing stable.


"I think we’ve got some work to do on understanding the coming races. Work to do on our right," Sergio Perez said. A crash with Kevin Magnussen 's Haas prevented Perez from completing the Grand Prix. Yet Perez also suffered from the kerbs during free practice and qualifying in the previous days.


Max Verstappen also sees that it will be tough in Canada. "Any track that is bumpy or has kerbs, well, you have to ride a lot of kerbs. So, yeah, a few street circuits probably will be a bit tricky. But hopefully, by then, we have a bit more of an understanding."


Like Monaco, the Montreal circuit has no high speed and a lot of kerbs. As a result, the Red Bull cars may struggle again during the race. "It’s very much traction. Historically it was there, but with the new surface, you don’t know what the balance is going to swing to," says team boss Christian Horner. Whether Red Bull can perform better on Canadian soil remains to be seen.
