F1 Power Rankings: Norris hunts down Verstappen in the leaderboard
- Estéban den Toom
It was not Max Verstappen 's weekend in Monaco. In his home country, the reigning world champion did not really come into his own, finishing sixth at the Grand Prix. It is reflected in the Power Rankings that Verstappen did not have his most amazing weekend of his Formula 1 career.
Where Verstappen still had a 9.0 average after the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, he sees this number plummet to an 8.8 rating. Indeed, the triple world champion received a 7.8 rating for his weekend in Monaco. As many as six drivers received higher marks than the Red Bull driver.
"Max Verstappen and Red Bull were out of sorts from Friday practice in Monte Carlo, as the RB20 hated the bumps and kerbstones on the 3.337-kilometre circuit. In the end, sixth place was a good way to limit the damage, but the driver and team are hoping for much more next time in Canada," the judges wrote.
Charles Leclerc got the highest mark of anyone in Monaco. "Leclerc was faultless from first practice to the finish flag on race day in Monaco. He dispelled the demons of previous setbacks on home soil and achieved the victory he so longed for. Converting the pole on the third time of asking. Our judges were impressed and unanimously gave him a 10." Completing the top three are Oscar Piastri (9.2) and Yuki Tsunoda (8.4). Check out the current rankings below.
