Marko gets flashback from Alpine: 'In 2018 with Verstappen and Ricciardo...'

The incident involving Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly at the Monaco Grand Prix did not escape Helmut Marko either. It immediately reminded the Red Bull Racing adviser of something he experienced earlier with Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, he said in his own column for Speedweek.com.
Marko immediately reminded of Verstappen and Ricciardo
Gasly was not exactly happy with Ocon's rash action either. For Marko, the situation looked familiar. "We have had this at Red Bull Racing twice with teammates getting in each other's way, once in 2018 with Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen in Baku and once with Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel in 2010 in Turkey."
"In both cases, we called both drivers to the company and discussed it openly with them, making it clear to them that such collisions with teammates are simply not acceptable," Marko continued. "Ricciardo then left us at the end of the season and there were no more such incidents with Webber."
Marko: 'Proving someone's intent is difficult'
"It is difficult to take action in such a case because you then have to be able to prove clear intent and that is not the case. The driver then says he misjudged the accident, which means there is no longer intent. However, the problem with Alpine is that it was not the first time, and I think that adds to the difficulty," Marko concludes on the subject.
