Hamilton finds himself in weaker period: 'You don't always succeed'
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
Lewis Hamilton's last victory dates back to 2021. While the Briton enjoyed a very dominant period, his Mercedes is now not fast enough to fight for victories. Despite this, the seven-time world champion does manage to maintain his focus and motivation. How does he do this?
The tally now stands at 103 Grands Prix victories for Lewis Hamilton. Yet his last victory was almost three years ago. From the 2022 season, Mercedes hit the mark with the new technical regulations. From 2025, the Briton will leave for Ferrari.
Hamilton has no trouble maintaining focus
Despite the prospect of this switch, Hamilton has repeatedly stated that his focus is at Mercedes, where he cannot currently compete for podiums or victories. Focusing on his current team goes without saying for the 39-year-old. "I don't find it that difficult if I'm being honest," Hamilton told GPblog and others in Monaco.
"I think when you really enjoy something and when you really care, you make a decision whether it's a priority, and it is a priority. It's something that I love doing. I feel constantly challenged by it, and by the people around me. There's never a dull day when you're at a racetrack except the Thursdays! No, I'm kidding, but kind of not," Hamilton explained his passion for the sport that fuels him to this day.
"I'm enjoying the challenges both physically and mentally, then obviously, when it comes to teamwork. Every year, it's just different, like, it's never what you expect. I think that's a great thing. You're always trying to progress. You don't always do it. But that's life, right?" concluded Hamilton.
