Rain has caused problems on Friday at the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix. Rain and hail came just before the start of FP1, and changeable conditions meant there wasn't much more running done in FP2. Despite a lot of rain predicted for qualifying on Saturday, it steered clear of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. However, the forecast suggests rain might fall before and during the race on Sunday.

What is the weather forecast for the Canadian Grand Prix

According to weather.com, the rain will come and go before the Grand Prix gets underway at 14:00 local time (19:00 GMT). Showers are expected in Montreal, with scattered storms also threatening to hit during the Grand Prix itself.

Rain remains on the radar throughout Sunday. Teams and drivers will be keen for some dry running, but as it has been this weekend, it will be changing conditions. An hour before the race gets underway, the chance of rain is 44%, rising to 58% at 14:00 when the lights go out. Scattered thunderstorms are also forecast at 14:00, as well as 15:00, with the chance of rain continuing to be at 58%.

Teams and drivers will be watching the weather radar carefully in anticipation of what could be a tricky and wet circuit to navigate, and strategy is going to play a huge part in how the results will shape up come the race's end.
