Esteban Ocon will no longer be an Alpine F1 driver after the current Formula 1 season. The Frenchman and his French team released the news yesterday that Ocon will no longer drive for the same constructor as Pierre Gasly next season. Former engineer at Alpine, Mark Lane, reacted to the news.

In a message on X, formerly Twitter, the Englishman revealed that Ocon was a fine driver and that he wishes him all the best for the future. "It was a lot of fun while it lasted, mate. You were the only driver I met who introduced himself to everyone in the office. I wish you all the best for your future."

Does Mark Lane get out of this?

In a later tweet, Lane also says: "The latest in a long line of good people to leave this team. You have to draw your own conclusions." So Lane does not seem particularly happy with this decision.

Ocon's future is still uncertain, but Haas F1 and Audi seem to be the main candidates to get a signature from the Frenchman on paper. Red Bull also still has an open vacancy, but the chances of Ocon becoming Max Verstappen 's teammate seem slim. Red Bull previously reacted to the news of Ocon and Alpine in a playful manner.
