Verstappen helped with deal for Perez? Checo reacts irritated
Did Sergio Perez get a new contract at Red Bull Racing just to keep Max Verstappen happy? The Mexican was asked that question at the press conference in Canada, to which he responded viciously.
Perez and Red Bull Racing announced on Tuesday that Perez has signed a new contract until 2026. Although it had been clear behind the scenes for some time that Perez would sign a new deal, the reaction to the new extension online was mostly angry. The deal was done to keep Max happy. Perez had to face this question in Canada.
Perez cannot handle criticism
"Well, I think in Formula One, there are always different agendas, and I really get that. It's something that has been with every driver since we got into the sport, and I think the best thing to do is just to close the visor and focus on my job, do the best for myself, for my career," the Mexican responded.
"What people have to say or not, I mean, I appreciate that everyone has their opinion. But at the end of the day, I'm here to do the best for my career and I'm happy with what I have achieved," the Red Bull driver concluded.
