Brown reveals next victory celebration instead of tattoo

Zak Brown is done with tattoo's but reveals his next wacky celebration

8 June at 08:00

McLaren has won two races since Zak Brown joined the British team, and the American has two tattoos to mark both occasions. Brown was afraid of needles, so Daniel Ricciardo ensured his then-boss would get over the fear with a tattoo to celebrate the 2021 Monza win. Brown repeated the feat to mark Lando Norris' Miami win in 2024 but won't get another tattoo for the next victory. Instead, a wacky haircut is inbound!

McLaren have introduced performance upgrades and have experienced much success as a result. Norris and Oscar Piastri now have realistic chances of getting victories at most Grands Prix weekends. They are fighting with Red Bull and Ferrari in 2024.

How will Brown remember future wins?

Brown himself has stated that McLaren will win more races over the rest of the season. F1 fans around the world wondered just how many tattoos Brown would get to celebrate future wins but the CEO has put an end to that celebration.

"I've decided I'm going to do something different because they hurt. Both of my sons were at each race so I'm going with the tattoos as one for each son. I'm done now. We'll do something like a Mohawk [next time]. We'll do something fun for Oscar because his win is no doubt not far away," Brown told Sky Sports in Canada.

That win could occur in Canada this weekend, though hardly any meaningful conclusions can be drawn from Friday's practice. Both sessions featured rain, so the running order remains a mystery. However, McLaren's rival, Max Verstappen, experienced an ERS issue. Ferrari also made a tyre blunder in FP2, which put them under investigation.
