British driver Aitken wins DTM race
- Wouter Bos
Jack Aitken has secured his second win of the season. At the Circuit de Zandvoor, he managed to convert his pole position into a victory in Race 1.
Emil Frey Racing's British driver managed to finish three seconds ahead of number two Rene Rast. Indian Arjun Maini, younger brother of F2 driver Kush Maini, completed the podium. Aitken started the race strongly as he immediately started putting distance between him and Clemens Schmid. And despite a few ticks handed out, everyone just kept on driving.
Aitken managed to keep the lead even after the mandatory pit stop. Otherwise, there was not much overtaking on the Zandvoort circuit. In Scheivlak, South African Sheldon van der Linde put his BMW next to Bortolotti in the Lamborghini and overtook him. In the end, Aitken managed to cruise to victory quite easily.
Race two in Zandvoort
On Sunday, the second race is scheduled at Zandvoort. This one starts a little later so that drivers who are also part of this year's Le Mans can take part in the test at Circuit de la Sarthe. At 15:30 UK time the lights go out again at Zandvoort where Aitken will start fourth.
