Williams team boss James Vowles has very openly stated recently that Carlos Sainz is the big favourite for the second seat in his team. The Spaniard is flattered by these compliments and interest, except that he himself has not yet made up his mind about his future.

Carlos Sainz is busy finding a new seat for 2025. Sergio Perez's contract extension at Red Bull Racing has closed the door on him there, and Toto Wolff has also expressed that there is no room for the Spaniard at Mercedes.

Sainz is too busy racing

James Vowles is only too happy to see Carlos Sainz come to his team. Alexander Albon already has a contract lying around for 2025, so Logan Sargeant will then have to make way for Sainz. The Spaniard himself has yet to decide on his future. "I appreciate James' interest and the kind words that he has always towards me. The same can be said about how I feel towards him and his team, but the reality is that I haven't made up my mind yet about where I'm going to go next year, because, as I said in the first conference the other day, I'm too focused."

"Right now, my head is too focused at every weekend that we're doing, weekend in, weekend out, and I'm fighting for podiums or wins, so it's very difficult to put your mind in the future when you have such an important weekend coming up all the time. So I'm going to need some time to sit down with my management, with myself, have a conversation with myself, and then decide where I want to go. But right now, there's nothing to say," Sainz told reporters in Canada. When there will be clarity on his future, he himself does not know at the moment either.
