Max and Jos Verstappen in action in Austria: Jos also drives for Red Bull
- Ludo van Denderen
Not only will Max Verstappen be in action during the F1 weekend in Austria later this month, but father Jos will also get behind the wheel. Verstappen senior will drive an old Red Bull Racing car during the Legends Parade.
Every year, the Legends Parade takes place ready for the Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. Former drivers get into classic cars for this and do a few laps of the circuit with them. Legendary, for instance, is the time Gerhard Berger competed in an extremely expensive McLaren. He did not get very far, as the expensive sports car suddenly caught fire, causing huge damage.
Coulthard and Berger also in action
Besides Verstappen, Johnny Herbert, David Coulthard and the aforementioned Berger, among others, will also be in action at the event. The theme this year is former F1 cars, which won a Grand Prix or championship. Fans will get the Lotus 72, the Lotus 82 and the Ferrari F2002, and others. Last year, Verstappen also drove in the Legends Parade. Then he drove a 1972 McLaren M8F. Now he will step into the RB8.
The cars will also be seen in the Fanzone. Also on display there is Ronnie Peterson's 1978 Lotus 79 and Max Verstappen's 2018 RB14. These cars also won Grands Prix, but do not drive along the track.
