Bearman gets another chance in a Formula 1 car this weekend in Spain
- Jeroen Immink
Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman will once again be in action next weekend in Barcelona. The Brit will drive the Haas F1 car during the first free practice session. Bearman also got to take a seat in the Haas car during the first free practice at Imola.
Bearman, like Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Jack Doohan, is in the running for a 2025 F1 seat. Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu, meanwhile, has also confirmed that Haas is keeping an eye on Bearman. "Of course, we are evaluating him. If he is not [under] consideration, we wouldn’t be running him in FP1, and the next time he’s going to be in the car is in Barcelona," Komatsu revealed to the official Formula One website.
Komatsu wants an experienced driver alongside Bearman
After his spectacular debut at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix for Ferrari, it seems only a matter of time before Bearman will secure a permanent seat for 2025 in Formula 1. Only Komatsu has hinted, though, that in addition to the young Englishman, an experienced driver should come in for Haas. "We are still a pretty small team. To have somebody experienced, somebody who’s got a really good work ethic, to integrate with the team well and really push the team forward… that’s what we’re looking for, so we’re talking with several different drivers.”
