Official: Apple confirm release date for Hamilton and Pitt's Formula 1 film

What are the details about the film?

The film is set to release in just over 12 months. It will star Brad Pitt as a Formula 1 driver racing for a fictional Formula 1 team, APXGP. His teammate will be played by Damson Idris, and they will compete against the sport’s drivers and teams. The feature film will be distributed in theatres around the world and in IMAX by Warner Bros.

Filming began in 2023. Pitt drove a car during the 2023 British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone. Mercedes modified the car, which was also featured at other Grands Prix during the season. Filming is set to resume during GP weekends in the 2024 Formula 1 season. This will take place at Silverstone again, Abu Dhabi, and other races yet to be named. 

The late June release means it will come after the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix and just prior to the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix. The race at the Red Bull Ring is followed by the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. 

The new feature film is set in the exhilarating and cinematic world of Formula 1 and will immerse audiences in the spectacle of the most popular annual sports series,
celebrating the skill and heroism of the drivers while showcasing the incredible challenge of competition in Formula 1. Pitt previously praised Formula 1 for their support when speaking to Sky Sports in July 2023. 

"I'm going to be here until they kick me out because I'm loving it. I think it is every guy's dream. I just loved it. And again, I have so much respect for what you guys [the whole Formula 1] do. Hamilton is really intent that we respect the sport. We really show it for what it is, and I have to tell you, as a civilian, I had no idea what it takes to be a driver. And the aggression and dexterity, and they're amazing athletes, and I've got so much respect for everyone out there in all classes."
