Legendary designer Adrian Newey is leaving Red Bull Racing after delivering back-to-back constructors titles for the team. He has been linked with nearly every team on the grid since his departure was announced, mainly Ferrari and Williams. However, despite being ruled out early, Aston Martin could be Newey's destination next season.

Meanwhile, former Ferrari boss and ex-FIA president Jean Todt has been full of praise for Mick Schumacher. The son of legendary driver Micheal has been off the Formula 1 grid since leaving Haas at the end of 2022, but Todt believes he should be on the Formula 1 grid.

Is another team in the running for Adrian Newey?

Plenty of speculation has circulated regarding Adrian Newey's next destination after it was announced he will leave Red Bull Racing. A report from the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf states that Lawrence Stroll is trying to bring the legendary designer to Aston Martin.

Newey is the most sought-after name in Formula 1, having won world championships at Williams, McLaren and Red Bull. He has won 12 world constructors' titles and 13 drivers championships with seven different drivers, including the recent domination of Max Verstappen

Newey has already stepped back from his Formula 1 duties with Red Bull and is focusing on delivering the team's first hypercar, the RB17 until his departure in early 2025.

Which ex-driver is better than 'half the grid'?

If the choice came to former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt, Mick Schumacher would be back in a full-time Formula One seat at Alpine. Schumacher is currently a reserve driver for the Enstone team and also competed at the 24 hours of Le Mans with Alpine's endurance team.

Todt, who is a friend of the Schumacher family, believes that Micheal's son is better than "half the drivers on the F1 grid." Todt also believes that Schuamchers name came as a disadvantage, with his father being a 7-time world champion.

In 2021, Schumacher debuted at Haas as Nikita Mazepin's teammate. He managed to beat the Russian with ease. The following year, he was joined by Kevin Magnussen. After several crashes and poor results, team boss Guenther Steiner fired Schumacher, who had to make way for the much more experienced Nico Hulkenberg

Verstappen in difficult spot thanks to Antonelli

Sky Sports F1 reporter Ted Kravitz believes that Max Verstappen has been put in a difficult position for 2026. Despite speculation that Verstappen could leave Red Bull at the end of this season, GPblog understands that Verstappen has decided to stay with the team.

However, for 2026 and the new regulations, Kravitz reports that Verstappen's camp believes the best place for the three-time champion will be Mercedes. Toto Wolff has openly admitted he would happily welcome Verstappen's arrival to replace the outgoing Lewis Hamilton, who leaves the Silver Arrows for Ferrari at the end of the season.

Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes appear to have caught up to Red Bull this season, with four different drivers winning races so far in 2024 compared to three all of last season. Despite this, Verstappen is still consistently challenging at the front, so it seems unlikely he would walk away from the Austrian team.

Leclerc explains key differences between world champions

After their thrilling title battle in 2021, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are regularly compared, despite the Red Bull being a much quicker car than the Mercedes in recent seasons. Hamilton's 2025 Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc has explained the differences between the most successful driver in F1 history and the man currently dominating the sport.

Leclerc believes Hamilton is more calculating than Verstappen, who is known as a very aggressive driver. You can read his full comments on his fellow drivers here.

Which F1 driver 'already knows' he has lost his 2025 seat?

Juan Pablo Montoya believes that Williams' Logan Sargeant already knows his seat on the Formula 1 grid is already gone. His team principal James Vowles has been open in admitting his top target for 2025 is Carlos Sainz. Rumours have also circulated that Sargeant could be out before the end of this season, with Antonelli lined up as a replacement thanks to the FIA's new super licence rules.

Montoya gave some harsh advice for the American, saying that he should already start looking outside of Formula 1 if he wants a drive in 2025, suggesting Indycar and WEC as options for him.

Montoya isn't the only one who thinks Sargeant is already out of a drive. Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner believes that Antonelli should already be in the car, with the American's performances just not being good enough to deserve a seat in the top class of motorsport.
