Since the announcement of his departure, Adrian Newey's next move has been a big topic. Many F1 teams have been interested in signing the top designer, including Aston Martin. Now, it has been suggested that Newey has visited the British team, to which Alonso responded to during the press conference.

Will Alonso lure in Newey?

Ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, Alonso was asked whether he will have any influence over Newey's decision, and if he could persuade him to come to the team. This comes after The Telegraph reported that the Brit had already visited the factory and demanded a £25 million per season salary. "Yeah, I read the rumours. I read the news, but it is coming from the same source," Alonso said. "The same websites were saying one week ago he was in Ferrari and it was the announcement at 12 o'clock before Canada? So, yeah, rumours are rumours."

The report also suggested that team owner Lawrence Stroll hopes that the designer would have been impressed enough by the team's facilities, that ambition would become the deciding factor in his decision. In the past, Newey has hinted at his desire to work with Alonso, or Lewis Hamilton. Recent reports, as Alonso shared, had suggested the designer had already signed with Ferrari for 2025. Nevertheless, Alonso refused to reveal what he would tell the designer to persuade him to come to the team, stating, "That's between him and me."
