Verstappen responds to Silverstone ticket sales blame

Max Verstappen has snapped back at the British Grand Prix organisers. The organisers claim Verstappen's dominance resulted in fewer ticket sales for the upcoming British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Dutchman has responded with a firm answer.

Stuart Pringle, chief executive of Silverstone Circuit, stated that ticket sales for the British Grand Prix were struggling. The GP has regularly sold out in recent years, but that is not yet the case for the 2024 edition. According to Pringle, this is mainly because of Verstappen and Red Bull's dominance.

Why Silverstone criticises Verstappen

"If there is a strong likelihood of the same winner, and the jeopardy is taken out of the sport, it does take the edge off it. Last year was very repetitive in terms of one team dominated and they set off this season in the same vein," Pringle said to Motorsport.

Verstappen was asked in Spain about these comments: "I don't think it's my fault. I mean, the F1 season is very exciting. There are a lot of teams fighting for wins now. And if a promoter can't fill the seats and they blame it on someone, then I think they first have to look at themselves with their own eyes. Because in other cases, it's quite easy to fail."
