The last Formula 1 race weekend in Canada was one to quickly forget for Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque dropped out of the race early due to an engine problem. The six-time Grand Prix winner says that Ferrari's problems have since been traced by the team. The Italians have found a solution, Leclerc said on Thursday in Barcelona.

While happy with Ferrari's fix, Leclerc didn't go into detail about the exact nature of the problems he suffered in Canada. "We found a solution. I'm not going to go into the details of what it was exactly," Leclerc stated on media day ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. He continued: "We were losing a lot of lap time in the straights which pushed us to retire the car. This was difficult to control until we actually understood. We understood, and we fixed it."

Leclerc confident for Barcelona

Partly thanks to the engine solutions, Leclerc heads into the Spanish Grand Prix weekend with a good feeling and hopes to score some serious points after not scoring any in Canada. "The thing that we have been focusing on most in the last few days since we understood the engine issue was mostly the lack of performance on Saturday. Again here, I think we didn't manage things the way we should have and there was probably more performance in the car. So I'm confident that we'll be back to our level here in Barcelona." The Ferrari driver concluded.
