A day after England failed to beat Denmark and Spain beat Italy, two top nations will again be in action at the Euros on Friday. This time, it is the turn of the Netherlands and France, countries that can count some support from drivers in the F1 paddock.

Max Verstappen will undoubtedly be in front of the TV on Friday night to see how his countrymen get on. It is no secret that Verstappen has a good relationship with some footballers. For instance, the Dutch world champion recently met captain Virgil van Dijk. Asked if Verstappen is following the European Championship, the answer is as logical as it is obvious: "Yes!"

Verstappen is extremely positive about the Dutch team's chances. When asked on media day before the Barcelona Grand Prix which country will take the title, he said, "The Netherlands are going to win!"

Gasly balks at injury to Mbappé

Pierre Gasly - former team-mate of Verstappen at Red Bull Racing and currently racing for French team Alpine - is confident his country will beat The Netherlands.

"First of all, I'm sad that Kylian has light damage on his face," Gasly stated. "That's not good news for us because he's not going to play. But yeah, obviously I'm going to be behind my TV and supporting the French team all the way. We are lucky to have an incredible generation and very talented players from experience and also newcomers in the team. Exciting time to be French."
