Formula 3 qualifying in Spain is over. At the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Arvid Lindblad and his competitors battled for pole position. In the end, Christian Mansell took pole. Lindblad took second place. Leader of the standings Gabrielle Miní disappointed with 16th place.

Van Hoepen, who currently holds 10th place in the Formula 3 classification, started the qualifying session nicely. With a 1.29.187, he clocked the fastest time of all drivers after the first run. After all drivers went out for their second run in the remainder of qualifying, the track progressed and so did the speed. Lindblad went quickest and put in a 1:28.499. Nikola Tsolov improved as well, moving to P2, just +0.003 seconds behind Lindblad. In the end, Mansell finished his flying lap and clocked in at 1:28.463, getting the pole position for Sunday’s race.

The results of qualifying gave good hope for the race. With the top five being as much as within a tenth of a second together, it indicates the differences are minimal. The sprint race will be run on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
