Norris highlights key area for improvement despite positive day in Spain
On Friday, running at the Spanish Grand Prix was extremely close and competitive, but McLaren and Lando Norris had a very positive day. After taking P1 in Fp1 just ahead of Max Verstappen, Norris took P3 in FP2 in a session where five teams took the first five places in the standings, highlighting the competitiveness of the grid around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
How Norris wants to improve after a positive FP1 and FP2
Speaking with F1TV after the second free practice, Norris was happy with the running and pace his McLaren showed: "I think it's a pretty good day, never easy in these hot conditions, it never feels amazing. The tyres overheat very quickly so it's difficult to get everything in the perfect window, but I think all in all it was a good start to the weekend. I felt pretty comfortable with the car from the beginning, so it's close and it's going to be about trying to improve the small things tomorrow because I'm sure it's going to be close again like it was in Canada."
Norris missed out on the win in Montreal last time out despite leading before a safety car came out, with poor communication between him and the pit wall meaning he lost the win. Norris continued by saying that there weren't any improvements regarding the car from Canada, but he hopes there is a bit more to come for qualifying tomorrow.
"You just try to improve a little bit in every area, maybe some will be a little bit easier than others, but it's for tonight, it's what we talk about now and discuss and see what we can improve for tomorrow."
