Early this season, there were rumours that Max Verstappen might move to Mercedes. This would have everything to do with the unrest within his current team Red Bull Racing. GPblog already reported that Verstappen has decided to stay with the Austrian team after all, but Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff is keeping the door ajar.

At the start of the season, Christian Horner was accused of inappropriate behaviour. Subsequently, there was also said to be a power struggle going on between the Red Bull team boss and Helmut Marko. All this led to Verstappen's future at Red Bull suddenly becoming uncertain.

The Dutchman was linked to Mercedes. Team boss Wolff then left no stone unturned that, following Lewis Hamilton's departure, he was keen to have Verstappen join his team.

Wolff still does not rule out Verstappen's arrival

When Wolff was asked whether talks with Verstappen about a possible transition were still taking place, the team boss replied: "No, there's no talks that are taking place at that stage because I think we need to look on ourselves and improving the car."

Wolff is then asked if there is still a possibility for Verstappen to move to Mercedes. To this he replies, "No driver decision has been made [aside from Russell]. I said we want to keep this decision as long as possible because who knows? Who knows what happens?"
