After Hamilton announced his transfer to Ferrari, Mercedes suddenly had to look for a new teammate for George Russell. The German racing team are not releasing much about the search for a new driver, but Toto Wolff did say a few things about the timeframe in which they want to make a decision.

A wide range of rumours are circulating about who might become the new Mercedes driver. Among others, the names of Max Verstappen, Kimi Antonelli and Carlos Sainz have been or are being linked with a tenure at the Silver Arrows.

Wolff plots timeline

Talking to ORF, Wolff has at least said that Sainz will not drive for his team. We can also see from his statements that Wolff wants to wait a maximum of five months for Verstappen, or the announcement of another driver with a view to 2025. "I don't want to make Carlos (Sainz) wait any longer, I think we can only make a decision in November," Toto Wolff said.
