Carlos Sainz is still without an employer for 2025. The Spanish driver has to leave Ferrari after this season and has not yet found a new home. Sainz says that it is also sometimes difficult for him to stay focused on the here and now and not look too much far into the future.

"It's not easy," Sainz told reporters on Thursday in Austria. "I'm doing the exercise within myself and my team to really try to avoid looking at each race performance of each team and just focus on the project and the feeling that I get by talking to each team and obviously looking at the contracts. It's not easy because sometimes, with the competitive spirit, you just try and see who is faster, but I don't think the last race of each team is also a representative point of where they're going to be in the next couple of years," Sainz said.

Sainz delays decision

The grid for next year is slowly but surely filling up. As such, time is running out somewhat for the two-time race winner. But he acknowledges that the current Formula 1 season is now in a busy period, and does not want to release too much about his survival within the king class of motorsport. "It's obviously not the right time. And probably a triple header isn't the right time also to go back home and take the decision with my team and put all the options in front of the table and think carefully what's best for me, for my future, for my career. So obviously, no, it's not now the right time," Sainz stated.
