Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko has given some updates regarding the situation at Red Bull over Max Verstappen and Christian Horner. The Austrian is in a tricky situation, as Red Bull is winning a lot, but because there is a lot of political wrangling internally. Speaking to Viaplay, Marko explained the situation.

Things are still unsettled at Red Bull. While Verstappen is asserting himself on the track, there is a lot of fighting still going on internally. It started with team boss Horner, who has been accused of cross-border behaviour within the Red Bull organisation. Jos Verstappen has previously let it be known that Horner must leave, and this weekend in Austria there was another battle. There, Verstappen senior was supposed to drive a demo in an old Red Bull car, but Horner allegedly blocked it. For father Jos, this was a reason to speak out in the media about Red Bull's team boss.

Marko makes himself heard

"It was not nice circumstances," Marko let it be known. "But we have now found a way. We have said we have to focus and all the way with our technical problems, we have to make sure Max becomes the champion again. We have to perform to the maximum together and give Max another title. That is above everything else," said a determined Marko.

Asked if Max is the reason Marko is still at Red Bull, the Austrian replied firmly: "Yes. " There is much speculation about the relationship between Horner and Marko, but there is little the advisor can do with that. "I am old, I have been in the sport for a long time. But you cannot banish me. I have my opinion and it is the same as Max's. We have to make sure he keeps winning as much as possible." Concluded the Austrian.
