Verstappen reacts after Austrian Grand Prix: 'It all sucked'
Max Verstappen is disappointed by what happened during the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman thought the incident with Lando Norris was strange and wants to revisit what exactly happened afterwards.
"I'm obviously just frustrated at that whole race. To run into each other is obviously not ideal. Of course, I already had the feeling that he was braking from very far away all the time and that he was finding it very difficult to stop. So I couldn't steer to the outside or to the right because we would collide. We'll have to see about that. From our side, the race was just completely dramatic. The strategy just sucked. Said a lot of times that my tyres were gone, and the pit stops just sucked. Everything that could go wrong went wrong today."
Verstappen reacts to incident with Norris
On the incident with Norris, Max said: "Yeah, I don't know. I'll have to look at it again. For my part, of course, I defend that inside a bit, but then he goes all the way around the outside, and I think we were driving with the rear wheels against each other. It's a very weird moment, not expected at all actually.''
Verstappen was also not at all pleased with the race itself. "The tyre degradation was not good, the tyres got too hot. All of a sudden the balance was gone as well." The pit stops were not a success either: "Twice just bad. I had already said a few times that we had to go in. Especially because it's just close together here with all the cars."
Norris accused Verstappen of moving under braking. According to Verstappen, however, there was no question of this. "I put in all my action every time before braking. It may seem that way, but of course you can't see when I brake." And then finally about the race: "Yesterday it went so well, today not a single metre."
