Norris ready for another Verstappen duel in Britain: 'Fast car everywhere'
A week after crashing with Max Verstappen, Lando Norris returns home for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Norris is confident he will be able to challenge Verstappen and Red Bull again this weekend.
On lap 64 of Sunday's race in Austria, a collision between the two championship leaders caused punctures for the pair of them. For Norris, it resulted in a DNF, whereas Verstappen recovered and finished in P5, extending his lead in the drivers' standings despite receiving a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision. The rivalry between the two friends is starting to intensify, and Norris will be out for revenge in front of his home fans at Silverstone.
Norris galvanises British support
“I’m so excited for the British Grand Prix. I love Silverstone. It’s a fun track and of course, it’s mine and the team’s home race. The support from the home fans makes it even more special," Norris said before commenting on his chances.
“We know we have a fast car that can compete for wins at every type of circuit, which makes us excited for the rest of the season. Getting a podium last year in Silverstone was amazing, but I know that winning at a home race would be next level. Let’s go!”
The British Grand Prix forms the final part of a triple header in the 2024 Formula 1 season. Verstappen and Norris have shared the front row of the grid in the other two Grands Prix in Spain and Austria. They also started in P1 and P2 for the sprint. With the Silverstone circuit suiting both the McLaren and Red Bull, the next chapter is set to develop in Britain this weekend. Last year, Norris got the better of Verstappen going into turn one but lost the lead later in the race. He finished second last year at Silverstone. In the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, Norris finally got a Formula 1 win under his belt but is hungry to do it again in front of his home fans.
