Norris jokingly shuns Verstappen following crash

Lando Norris and Max Verstappen have been competing at the sharp end of Formula 1 in recent weeks. The action boiled over in last weekend's Austrian Grand Prix when the two drivers made contact. Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Norris jokingly shunned Verstappen in a hypothetical situation.

Lando Norris crashed with Max Verstappen after a multi-lap duel for victory in the Austrian Grand Prix. Tension started to rise on the team radio, and eventually, the two drivers crashed. Both cars picked up punctures, opening the door for victory to George Russell. The stewards deemed Verstappen at fault for the contact and handed him a ten-second time penalty.

The two drivers have been good friends for many years and often travelled home together after races. In the immediate aftermath, when tensions were still running high, Norris even suggested he would lose respect for Verstappen if the Dutchman didn't apologise.

Norris jokingly shunned Verstappen

Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri played a game on the radio. The hypothetical situation was a one-two result at Sunday's British Grand Prix, and Norris was asked who he would pick to go and celebrate with. "I would've said Max but..." Norris said on Heart Radio with a smile on his face. "I'd pick Daniel Ricciardo. You can't go wrong with Daniel," Norris added.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner confirmed on Tuesday that Verstappen and Norris have spoken to each other since their crash at the Austrian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing boss also warned Norris that he can expect more of the same with the Dutchman in the coming weeks.
