Norris won't back down to Verstappen: 'Won’t change what I did'
Lando Norris has reflected on his Austrian Grand Prix duel with Max Verstappen and claims he 'won't change' what he did. The incident took both drivers out of the running for victory, though Norris ended with a DNF whilst the Dutchman was able to continue to P5 after a pitstop.
Lando Norris crashed with Max Verstappen after a multi-lap duel for victory in the Austrian Grand Prix. Tension started to rise on the team radio, and eventually, the two drivers crashed. Both cars picked up punctures, opening the door for victory to George Russell. The stewards deemed Verstappen at fault for the contact and handed him a ten-second time penalty.
Moment of reflection for Norris
"I reviewed everything, we’ve gone over stuff, and let’s say I won’t really change what I did. I was fighting, and that’s what we want. We want to fight. We don’t want to complain, we don’t want things to end like they did, both from Max’s side and from my side. So, that’s life sometimes. We’re fighting, we both want to win, and we’re going to push it to the limits, some slightly more than others," Norris said on Radio X.
The British Grand Prix forms the final part of the triple header. Verstappen and Norris have shared the front row to start the last two Grands Prix. They also started in P1 and P2 for the sprint race in Austria. And the duo started last season's Grand Prix at Silverstone on the front row. Red Bull and McLaren have the best cars at the moment, so more duels are likely.
"But at the same time, I’m excited. We’re going to have more fights together, and I look forward to those times," Norris vowed.
