Will Bearman replace Hamilton at Ferrari? 'It's hard not think that'

Bearman wants to repay faith shown by Ferrari

Oliver Bearman has signed for Haas and demonstrated his intent immediately. The British driver has highlighted how he wants to win World Championships with Ferrari as he already has his eyes set on the next chapter, which might include replacing Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari.

Intent for Bearman

Bearman raised through the ranks quickly. He entered F3 as a 17-year-old. Again, it's a class where you come up against much more experienced drivers, but Bearman impressed again. Victor Martins won the championship, but Bearman was only seven points short of third place.  Bearman made a conscious decision to stay in Formula 4 for another year after a season without titles, but this time, the Brit made the move straight to Formula 2. In 2024, he got his first taste of Formula 1 by replacing Carlos Sainz in Saudi Arabia.

Charles Leclerc is currently at Ferrari, and he will be joined by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton in 2025. Hamilton and Leclerc will continue to race at Ferrari in 2026 as well when the new rules and regulations are introduced. Leclerc himself quickly stepped up from Sauber to Ferrari. In a conversation with GPblog and others at Silverstone, Bearman was asked if he could do something similar.

"I hope so. That would be the dream. It's not in my hands. All I can do is perform at my best. Anything that comes after is not within my control," Bearman said before being reminded about Hamilton's age. "It's hard not to think that, but I'm not thinking about it," Bearman said with a smile.

But it's clear the young Brit is already looking further ahead. "Of course, I want to win World Championships. To do that with Ferrari is my dream. They've supported me since 2022; they've seen something from early, and they decided to trust in me. Even to put me behind the wheel in Jeddah was a big risk. It shows they believe in me. I would love to win a championship, especially with Ferrari," Bearman told Sky Sports.
