Andrea Stella felt after the Austrian Grand Prix that Max Verstappen had got away well with a 10-second time penalty. The McLaren team principal felt that the reigning world champion should have received a harsher penalty by the stewards, just as it should have been the case in 2021 when Verstappen was competing with Lewis Hamilton for the world title. Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris explained what they think of that comparison.

Hamilton was very clear when presented with Stella's words at Silverstone. "I don't agree with that," Hamilton said. The pair often battled hard in 2021, and also often went over the limit.

Norris does not believe Hamilton

His compatriot Norris doubts those seven words Hamilton dirtied on answering the question. "I'm sure Lewis would’ve agreed with it two years ago or three years ago. 100%. There were definitely certain things. There were definitely a few moments [that were up for debate at the time]."

So the McLaren driver stands by the words of his team boss. "I'm always going to stand up for what Andrea said. I think Andrea's got a very good amount of sensibility with how he talks and things he talks about. So, definitely, I think certain parts are true. I do agree with Andrea. But, yeah, certain things are always different when you're a little bit in the moment. Sometimes just clarification of how he says things. Because there's always certain things with how you pronounce things and stuff that might change too. But on the whole, I agree with what Andrea says," Norris concludes his side story.
