Marko designates Norris as favourite after training sessions in England

Red Bull Racing 's results at Silverstone on Friday were not a far cry. According to Helmut Marko, McLaren is simply faster that Red Bull and so there is work to be done for Max Verstappen's team.

The first and second free practice sessions for the British Grand Prix are over. The second, and most representative, session of the weekend, ended with Sergio Perez on P3 and Max Verstappen on P7. Whereas Marko could often indicate after sessions like this that there was more in it for Red Bull, that was not the case after the second free practice session in England.

Marko points to Norris as favourite

''Losing too much in the slow corners, especially 3-4, and you know the 6-tenths is not because the track developed very rapidly. But we are behind Norris in the short and in the long run. Tyre wear seems to be similar, so we have to do some work.'' Marko revealed to GPblog.

Normally Marko does let it be known that Red Bull has more in store if Friday is a bit disappointing, this time that was not the case: ''No, unfortunately not.'' Red Bull Racing also brought updates for the Austrian GP, but they do not yet provide a big step forward. "Just a small upgrade that is maybe worth half a tenth. Three-quarters of a tenth." The updates do work as expected beforehand.
