Trouble for British driver Bearman after F2 sprint collision

6 July at 13:37

Oliver Bearman started sixth on the grid for the Formula 2 Sprint race at Silverstone on Saturday afternoon. The race, which began from a rolling start, saw its first collision in lap 1. In a battle for P4, Bearman was caught in a collision which left him with damage.

Oliver Bearman, who announced this week that he had signed for Haas F1 team, started from P6. His teammate Kimi Antonelli started on pole. The race, which suffered greatly from the wet weather, started under a safety car and then a rolling start. Bearman started off well until a battle for P4 commenced in the first lap. The driver was caught in a fight with Jak Crawford and Gabriel Bortoleto for the positon. In the end, Bearman collided with Bortoleto, who then passed Crawford. As a result, Bearman was left with front wing damage.

Bearman struggled to keep up with the pace, and dropped from sixth to ninth before a red flag was called in lap 4 due to the weather conditions. The race restarted at 13:40, with Bearman restarting the race in ninth, whilst Antonelli maintained his pole position.
