Both Mercedes drivers seemed to be incredibly upbeat ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix, where the pair start on the front row. George Russell starts on pole, with his teammate Lewis Hamilton behind. At the Drivers Parade, Russell revealed the team had a surprise for the fans, joking that the prize was a race seat for next year.

With Hamilton making the move to Ferrari in 2025, Russell does not yet know who he will be partnered with for next season. Team boss Toto Wolff is yet to announce who will be joining the Brit. Nevertheless, at the Drivers Parade, the Mercedes driver was full of energy, which he owed to the home crowd. "We're all full of energy right now. As Lewis said, you guys definitely give us a little bit of extra and more and more lap time," he said.

Who will race alongside Russell next season?

With Russell still unaware who will join him at Mercedes, he took the opportunity to joke about it. "So I've been told for everybody in this grandstand, have a look under your seat. We could have over 20 little silver tickets or something. So if you guys have a look in this grandstand under your seats, I think there's a little gift from from our team. So it's just a little thank you for all of your support," he revealed to fans at the Silverstone circuit. As attendees frantically searched under their seats, the Brit took the opportunity to make a joke. "I don't know what the prize is, but I'm told it's a good one. It's the race seat for next year." With more tickets being waved in the air, Russell joked with the crowd, "The prize winner is my teammate for next year. So have a good look."
