Horner comments on Hamilton's win

Horner not fazed by Hamilton's win: 'Max has been consistently there'

After 945 days, Lewis Hamilton returned to the top step of the podium by winning the British Grand Prix for the ninth time. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was amongst the many to congratulate the seven-time world champion. Hamilton now joins the list of race winners this season, but for Horner, what is key is that only one has been consistent.

Hamilton becomes the sixth different race winner this season, alongside Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, and George Russell. Whilst Red Bull once again looked to be the dominant team after their performance in Bahrain, it has not been the case this season. McLaren and Mercedes are also beginning to catch up with Red Bull and Ferrari as they continue to make improvements to their cars. "I think Formula One can't be in a better place at the moment," Horner told GPblog and others in the paddock. "I mean, if you look at the last five, six races, we've had Lewis, we've had Lando, we've had Max, we've had Charles Leclerc. It's moving around." Nevertheless, Horner is not fazed by the growing list of race winners, "The only one that's managed to be there consistently has been Max. I'm sure though Lewis's win today was a very popular win in front of the home crowd."

How did Horner react to Hamilton's win?

Verstappen finished closely behind Hamilton during Sunday's Grand Prix, when he was able to overtake Norris and secure himself second place. However, his teammate failed to score any points after another difficult weekend. Despite his team's struggles though, Horner still congratulated Hamilton on his achievement, "We have to congratulate Lewis on winning this race. I thought he drove a very good race today. He was a deserving winner and of course a hugely emotional thing."

"For any driver to win a race nine times is an outstanding achievement and to have won it here in the UK, which obviously is very special for him as a British driver, he should be very proud of that. And so, we take our cap off to him today. He did a very, very good job," he concluded.
