Red Bull Racing is in trouble. Currently, the Austrian racing stable is top of the Constructors' standings, but partly due to a couple of bad weekends by Sergio Perez, the competition seems to be slowly closing in. After the British Grand Prix, Horner let it be known that he needs both Red Bulls in the battle for the championship.

Perez needs to find form again

"Well, of course, it's frustration when both of your cars aren't performing collectively. And I think that it's frustrating to lose Checo in Q1 yesterday. He'd missed FP1 because of Isack Hajar driving. He'd had a decent FP2. We felt that he should have been around the top six. And then to lose that car in Q1 was very frustrating. That's where we're at," Horner said afterwards. On the suggestion of whether he should tackle Perez heavily, the Englishman responded protectively. "Every driver's different. Some drivers need an arm around their shoulder, some need a kick up the arse and sometimes it varies from week to week."

Red Bull is currently quite a few points ahead of McLaren, but recent races have shown that the RB20 is no longer the dominant car. Even at Silverstone, the competition caught up with the Austrian racing stable, Horner also saw. "They took seven points out of us today. It's something that we're acutely aware of that we need to win the Constructors' Championship. You need both cars scoring."
