Mercedes are moving forward in 2024. The German team have now won two back-to-back Grands Prix in Formula One, the second one in Silverstone on merit with Lewis Hamilton. Toto Wolff also said the team will continue to bring more upgrades in the upcoming races.

"There's more to come in terms of performance. We're bringing updates to Budapest and Spa, but on the other side we mustn't get carried away," Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff told GPblog and others after Hamilton's first victory since 2021. "We had a win benefiting from the entangling, but [at Silverstone] we have an honest win. We had the real pace," the Austrian continued.

What changed for Mercedes?

According to Wolff, the German team have now found the code to getting the maximum performance out of their car. "It was like the third year of non-performance and then it clicked. Suddenly everything that didn't make sense made sense. The development direction is, or the results of the development direction, like in the old days, we're finding performance, we're putting it on the car and it translates into lap time."

Wolff added: "Led by James [Allison], suddenly the data made sense. And the gap. The way we, mainly the way we balanced the car and how we could bring it in a better sweet spot, that was the main thing."
