Sergio Perez was surprised by the pure performance of Ford's Red Bull SuperVan 4.2. The staggeringly quick EV is an unrestricted electric racecar which has broken records worldwide. In a much-needed weekend away from Formula 1 for Sergio Perez, the Mexican was provided with the opportunity to drive the SuperVan at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England.

"In terms of starting, you know, when you jump and throttle, I cannot hold my head forward. It starts really quickly. It's a really fast car," explained Perez in a discussion with Goodwood's livestream team immediately after his first run up the iconic Hillclimb. The Ford SuperVan 4.2 is the fastest closed-wheel car to ever do a lap around Mount Panorama in Bathurst, Australia. The van has three electric motors providing an instant 1,400 horsepower to its lucky driver.

"Also with Ford, you know, to have this, it's incredible. It's a massive project down the line. So yeah, looking forward to the future as well with Red Bull," Perez said. Red Bull has entered a powertrain partnership with Ford from the 2026 F1 season onwards.

Speaking about his season so far, the Mexican said: "The last few races have been tough. We haven't had just a straightforward one, so looking forward to it. Hopefully, we can turn on, there are still plenty of races to go. Hopefully, we are able to turn the page around and get back to the form that we had earlier in the year." Concluded Perez, who is joined at Goodwood by teammate Max Verstappen and team boss Christian Horner. All three will drive Red Bull F1 cars up the Goodwood hill in celebration of the Austrian team's 20-year anniversary.
