Newey admits to working with Hamilton or Alonso
- Jeroen Immink
Following the announcement of Adrian Newey's departure from Red Bull, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso were keen to welcome the master designer to their teams. It is still not clear what the Englishman will do in the future, but Newey has honestly admitted to wanting to work with the two top drivers when the time is right.
Hamilton and Alonso were crystal clear after it was announced that Newey will leave Red Bull that the aerodynamicist is most welcome to join Alonso at Aston Martin or Ferrari where Hamilton will move to next year. Newey is still regarded as the best designer in Formula 1 history.
Does Newey fancy a collaboration with Hamilton or Alonso?
"There are some drivers, like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, who I would have loved to work with, but so far it has not been the right place or time in terms of us coming together," Newey reveals to The Times. Last week, Newey unveiled the RB17 with Red Bull. The hypercar is the Englishman's latest work of art for Red Bull.
Newey has worked with several top drivers. "I got on extremely well with Nigel Mansell at Williams, even though he had a Marmite character, and Max Verstappen, who was a tremendous pleasure to work with at Red Bull," Newey added.
