Red Bull and Verstappen extra prepared for Hungary: 'Been back to the factory'
- Ludo van Denderen
It was the Grand Prix that Max Verstappen won by a huge margin last season. At the Hungaroring near Budapest, the Red Bull Racing driver crossed the line over 33 seconds ahead of number two Lando Norris. That is the very driver who looks set to become Verstappen's main rival next weekend on Formula 1's return to the track in Hungary.
"We had a brilliant race in Hungary last year and have good memories here as we achieved 12 wins in a row," Verstappen reflected on the situation a year ago. "Hungary is an interesting track and we are looking forward to racing there this week. The circuit is very narrow and twisty and has a very technical second sector; it will also be quite a bit warmer this week too."
Verstappen states that the last race at Silverstone was difficult for him and the team. "Although we made all the right calls, we still have a lot to work and improve on going into the second half of the season. I have been back at the factory with the Team on the sim preparing for the upcoming race, which has been good."
Verstappen hopes for 'nice race'
With McLaren likely to be at least close to Red Bull, it could be an interesting weekend in the hot Budapest. "Hopefully, we can have a great race again this year and achieve another good team result," Verstappen concluded.
