With the clause in his contract, Sergio Perez must perform in order to keep his seat at Red Bull Racing. The Austrians will do an evaluation during the summer break. In Hungary, Daniel Ricciardo talked about how he would feel if someone outside of the Red Bull family would join the team to replace the Mexican.

After a rocky start to the season, Daniel Ricciardo could once again be an option to replace a struggling Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing. The Milton Keynes-based team will re-evaluate their two teams' drivers this summer break.

For the Australian, it would be strange to have a replacement in place outside of the current Red Bull team, he told GPblog and others. "I don't know. I guess it's strange. It depends who the stranger is. I think being in the Red Bull family in this programme, I'm not a junior anymore, but I know how it works and it's always result driven," he explained.

Ricciardo continued, saying that it is in his and Tsunoda's hands to perform and earn a promotion. "If we are doing good enough, then we put ourselves in the best seat in terms of if there is some movement, then we hold the power in our results. I think it's like always, there's so much happening in F1, but at the end of the day, it's in our control, what we do behind the wheel and what the stopwatch says; try to control the controllables and I think in that situation, quite a lot is in our hands," the Australian concluded.
