After global IT issues rocked the world affecting huge worldwide companies, there were rumours that certain F1 teams were hampered by those issues. One of those teams that were rumoured to have been affected was Mercedes, which included seeing the 'blue wall of death' as some of their IT systems crashed. Trackside engineering developer Andrew Shovlin spoke about those issues in Friday's press conference.

IT issues had 'minimal impact' on Mercedes despite system crash

"We've had great support from them and all our partners," said Shovlin when asked about the IT issues the German team faced. "There was a bit of work that we had to do."

We've got a lot of computers around the garage and in pit walls and things here and those all needed updating but the impact in FP1 was minimal if not nil, so as I said it created a bit of work but we are back where we need to be now," Shovlin concluded.
