Paul Aron takes F2 pole, Antonelli in the top ten, Bearman struggles

Paul Aron was able to take pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Formula 2. Enzo Fittipaldi took P2 ahead of Red Bull junior driver Iasack Hadjar in P3. Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished in P7 to take a handy top-ten finish. It was a disappointing showing from Ollie Bearmn as he could only manage P14 in his Prema car.

As it happened

The red flag came out with 19 minutes left in the session as Josep Maria Marti spun out at turns 10 and 11 and lost power, the second time he has spun out at that corner this weekend. As a result, the red flag came out and stopped the session. However, it only lasted five minutes in what was a very small delay to the session.

Gabriel Bortoleto led proceedings after half the session was run, but he could not hold onto P1 as Aron showed some superb speed on the soft tyres to continuously improve throughout qualifying and take pole position around the Hungaroring. Antonelli had moved up into P3, but more lap improvements meant he dropped down the grid into P7 when the chequered flag fell. For Bearlan, he struggled all session and could not find the pace to get ut of the top ten.
