Practice has finished at the Hungaroring in Hungary, for round 13 of the season. Sunday's race is the first of a doubleheader with Spa before the summer break. Mercedes has consecutively won the past two weekends, but Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris set the pace yesterday, topping FP1 and FP2 respectively. Who will have a good qualifying session on a track where your starting position is crucial later this afternoon? What has happened so far in 2024? 

In Bahrain, it looked like Max Verstappen and Red Bull might once again be untouchable. However, their domination is now long gone. Six different winners from four different teams in 12 rounds have proven this. Carlos Sainz and Ferrari took victory in Australia after Verstappen retired. In Miami, a perfectly timed safety car helped Lando Norris take his maiden win as Verstappen struggled for pace. Monaco highlighted Red Bull's biggest issues, with Verstappen finishing sixth whilst Charles Leclerc took victory around his home streets. In Austria, Verstappen and Norris collided which gifted the race victory to George Russell and Mercedes. The Silver Arrows went back-to-back, as Lewis Hamilton won his 104th Grand Prix at Silverstone.

What can we expect from the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend?

Friday featured two practice sessions, with this final session taking place earlier today. On Saturday, FP3 took place in the morning, followed by this qualifying session. Sunday's race will take place at 2pm UK time. Qualifying will set the grid for Sunday's Grand Prix. This weekend, we can expect the top four teams - Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes - once again fighting for the top positions. Mercedes have been able to put it on pole for four consecutive seasons in Hungary, with Lewis Hamilton winning at the Hungaroring eight times. It's Max Verstappen though who has won here the past two years.
