Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko revealed after qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix that there will be a meeting after the Belgian Grand Prix. The key agenda: to discuss the performance and problems of Sergio Perez, the Red Bull driver, who put his RB20 into the wall during qualifying on Saturday. Perez was already point of criticism in recent months at Red Bull.
Speaking to Viaplay , Marko initially began by speaking positively about the Mexican driver. "He had a very good Friday and unfortunately, in qualifying, this accident, but we stay with what we have decided. We will look here and the next race in Spa and then we will sit down and decide what will happen in the future."
Meeting after Belgian Grand Prix
"In the end everything is about performance in every sport and especially in Formula One. I don't want to go into any details of contracts or whatever. There will be a meeting after Spa. We will sit down and go through the whole problem. It's a problem as our staff get a bonus only from our position in the Constructors' Championship, so it's a very important motivation factor. Checo didn't score too many points in the last couple of races," the Red Bull consultant explained.
Finally, Marko was asked how difficult it is for Verstappen. "Fortunately Max is strong enough that he can race two McLarens, but of course, strategy wise it would be very helpful to have a second car near the top," he said.
