Full Hungary results | Piastri earns first win, Norris P2 after team orders
Oscar Piastri earns his maiden F1 win by taking P1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Lando Norris took P2 behind his teammate after being ordered to let the Australian through after the second round of pit stops. Lewis Hamilton rounded out the podium in P3.
Piastri took the lead from his teammate on the first lap of the Grand Prix, making the move up the inside into turn 1. Norris was forced to outside, and Verstappen, who was outside of Norris, was forced off the track. Piastri led until lap 49, but Norris undercut his teammate and overtook the Australian after the second round of pit stops. As a result, Norris took the lead, and he started to eke out a gap in front of Piastri.
Norris was ordered to let Piastri back in front after leading the majority of the race, but at times, it looked like Norris would not let his teammate through and hold on for the win. However, with three laps to go, the Brit let Piastri through and gave him his first win in F1.
Behind the McLaren 1-2 was Hamilton in P3, who held on after Max Verstappen barreled up the inside of the Brit with less than ten laps to go. The Dutchman went straight on, banging wheels with Hamilton, and eventually fell behind Charles Leclerc who finished in P4. Verstappen was also under investigation for causing a collision. Behind Verstappen in P5 was Carlos Sainz in P6, while Sergio Perez and George Russell recovered to take P7 and P8, respectively. Yuki Tsunoda and Lance Stroll rounded out the top ten.
