With McLaren' s 1-2 finish in Hungary, the team has passed Ferrari and caught up with Red Bull Racing. The Austrian racing stable still has some breathing space, but with the performances of recent times, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris' team could quickly catch up.

McLaren narrowly misses out on the full spoils. Had either Piastri or Norris still driven the fastest lap, the team would have scored 44 points. This did not happen, as George Russell drove the fastest lap.

Ferrari, despite losing second position, is not in bad shape in the championship. Indeed, the Scuderia scored exactly the same number of points as Mercedes in Hungary. As a result, the Silver Arrows are not catching up with the Italian team, even though Mercedes has been more on form than Ferrari recently.
